Website Terminology 1

DOMAIN NAME - Your website name and internet identity. Just like people use your name or phone number to
call you on the phone, your Domain Name allows people to identify and search for your site on the Web by website name or by the Domain Name Server (DNS) address or number.

DOMAIN SERVER - Your web space providers (Host) servers . The domain name host directs visitors to
your e-mail or Web site via their servers. Without a domain server your website would be invisible on the Internet as only the name would be found along with a "Server Not Found" error message.

HOST - Web space provider (Hosting Company), this is where your website files are stored. Your Domain Name must be set to point to the Domain Name Servers (DNS) provided by your hosting company.

OPTIMISED IMAGES - Resized and limited to the least number of colors required to make the image look presentable. Image optimisation makes the image file smaller and therefore enables it to load quickly whilst
reducing the amount of bandwith necessary for the image to be displayed, bandwidth that you are paying for.
